RoD signed to strengthen Cyber Bureau

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 1
The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Korea International Cooperation Agency on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea signed the Record of Discussion for a project that aims to enhance the capacity development of Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police.
The project, 'Establishment of Cyber Bureau with Capacity Building for Nepal Police' was signed by Secretary of MoHA Tek Narayan Pandey and Country Director of KOICA Nepal Sunghoon Ko.
The Korean Government will spend USD eight million for this project for six years through KOICA. The project will be implemented by KOI- CA in close collaboration and coordination with the MOHA and Nepal Police.
The main objective of the project is to strengthen anti-cybercrime capabilities of Nepal Police wherein, the main component of the project is to construct state-of-art building of the Cyber Bureau, provide equipment related to cybercrime investigation and Digital Forensic Lab and capacity building of relevant human resources of Nepal Police.
During the event, Pandey stated the importance of wellequipped and well-capacitated Cyber Bureau to control the increasing trend of cybercrime.
He further assured fully cooperation for successful implementation of the project.
Similarly, Ko described the project as the joint collaborative approach between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of Nepal. 'This project carries great importance for the Korean government since it will contribute to reduce cybercrime and protect victims in Nepal with the expertise and resources based on Korean experience of Police Cyber Bureau,' he stated. He said KOICA and Nepal Police would work hard for the successful implementation of the project.
The Government of the Republic of Korea has been supporting the Government of Nepal through KOICA in various areas, including health, vocational training, rural development and IT since 1991.
