Nepal records 229 new Covid-19 cases, 362 discharges, 2 fatalities on Tuesday

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 824,764 on Tuesday with 229 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 807,516 with 362 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 11,559 with two fatalities.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 5,689 against 5,824 a day before.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 13,709 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,392 were PCR tests while 4,317 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,734,586 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 35 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 264.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.9 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

Currently, there are 96 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

The capital district holds the highest number of infections with 109 cases in the country. Lalitpur is second in line with 30 cases while Bhaktapur has 8 cases today.

So far, a total of 20,995,536 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 11,629,621 have received the first dose while only 9,365,915 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

As many as 236,482 people received Covid-19 vaccine today alone.

Globally, over 271 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 5.3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 243 million people have recovered while more than 22 million cases are still active.
