Nepal records 217 fresh COVID-19 cases, two fatalities on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 22

Nepal recorded 217 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 826,423 while the death toll climbed to 11,579 fatalities today. Meanwhile, two fatalities were reported on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 809,659 with 272 discharges logged today.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 11,309 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 7,266 were PCR tests while 4,043 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,791,497 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 19 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 236.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 5,185.

Currently, there are 107 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Tuesday, Nepal has witnessed 252 cases of the respiratory infection while three persons had succumbed to the disease during the same period.
