BHAIRAHAWA, DECEMBER 24

Lumbini Federal Police Unit Office Chief Senior Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar Yadav was found dead in his residential quarters in Bhairahawa this morning.

Bhairahawa is Rupandehi district headquarters and is the electoral constituency of Home Minister Balkrishna Khand. According to Rupandehi Chief District Officer Rishiram Tiwari, SSP Yadav was found hanging in his quarters.

As per security sources, SSP Yadav had returned to his quarters from gym in the morning, but didn't come out for lunch. Later, he was found dead in his room.

Madhes Human Rights Home Chairperson Rabindranath Thakur described the death as mysterious.

'A senior police officer has been found dead in his office, but journalists and civil rights activists have been barred from the incident site. Moreover, the truth behind the incident hasn't been made pubic, which has got us suspicious,' he said. Rupandehi District Police Office is said to be investigating the incident.

SP and DSP of Rupandehi police are reluctant to talk to mediapersons.

A resident of Nawalparasi, Ramgram Municipality, Yadav had joined Nepal Police about 30 years ago and was due to retire in February.
