KATHMANDU, JANUARY 2
The eighth general convention of the CPN-Maoist Centre has unanimously elected 236 members of the central committee proposed by party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Sixty-three members will be nominated by provincial chapters of the party. The central committee will elect 15 office bearers, including party chair.
CPN-MC leader Ganesh Shah, who helms Province 2 chapter of the party, said that the party could possibly elect 15 office bearers tomorrow, but if that did not happen tomorrow for any reason, then the party would elect office bearers in a few days.
Dahal's daughter Renu Dahal and brother Narayan Dahal are among the central committee members.
Shah said that Renu and Narayan Dahal became CC members as the party had decided to retain all 184 leaders who were central committee members earlier.
Shah said that Dahal announced names of CC members who were already members of the CC and the members who were recommended by provincial chapters of the party.
The CPN-MC has elected CC members cluster wise to ensure representation of all social groups.
