Sharp spike in COVID-19 cases as Nepal logs 1, 357 entries on Monday

Nepal recorded 1,357 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 833,946 while the death toll reached to 11,606 as two fatalities were recorded on Monday.
Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 814,485 with 255 discharges logged today.
As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 11,429 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 8,965 were PCR tests while 2,464 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,937,589 PCR tests have been carried out till date.Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 89 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 1,446.
Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.7%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.
The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 7,855.
Currently, there are 113 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
On Sunday, Nepal had witnessed 841 cases of the respiratory infection while two persons had succumbed to the disease during the same period.
