CPN (US) chair Nepal tests positive for Covid-19

CPN-Unified Socialist Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal has said no discussion has been held so far among parties in the coalition government about impeaching Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR.

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 11

Madhav Kumar Nepal, the Chairperson of the Communist Party of Nepal-United Socialist, has tested positive for Covid-19 infection.

The test result received on Tuesday confirmed that he had the virus, according to his secretariat.

The secretariat added, 'His health status is normal, and he is getting care at his residence.'

The infection has already struck CPN Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who are also receiving treatment at their home.

Likewise, Maoist Centre leader and Minister for Education Devendra Paudel has also tested positive for the infection.

This week has marked a significant spike in reported number of COVID-19 cases in the country wherein 1357 people had tested positive for the disease on Monday alone, indicating an almost double increase in daily reported numbers of the infected.
