Huge fire breaks out in tea estate

MANGALBARE, JANUARY 16

A huge fire broke out today in Antu Valley Tea Estate operated by Ilam Tea Producers located at Shriantu of Suryodaya Municipality in the district.

The fire that broke out at 3:00pm is yet to be extinguished. Although it is said huge property was damaged in the fire, Information Officer at District Police Office, Ilam, Ganga Bahadur Thapa informed that complete information about the loss was yet to be ascertained.

The locals, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force personnel have been working hard to control the fire.

The policemen from Area Police Office, Pashupatinagar, and a team of armed police from BoP26 have been mobilised for the purpose.

A local involved in controlling the fire, Rudra Ghimire, informed that the fire may have broken out due to short circuit. Fire engines are also being used to bring the blaze under control.

Ghimire added that 70 to 80 tonnes of processed tea was damaged in the fire.
