The chairman of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee Parshu Narayan Chaudhary has blamed political parties for mobilising youths to pelt stones and chant anti-monarchy slogans.

Speaking at a programme organised to mark

the seventh anniversary of the Nepal National Reiyukai 20th Branch (NNRB) here today, he

said: 'Monarchy is the foundation of unity among people belonging to different castes and ethnic groups in Nepal. The country will split if republic is established.'

Shibucho Uttam Kumar Manandhar of the 20th branch highlighted the objectives of Reiyukai.

'It is a social organisation which aims at spreading the message of peace and harmony'.

Kailash Bikram Shahi, vice-responsible Shibucho of the 20th branch, welcomed the participants on the occasion.

Chaudhary gave away felicitation letters to the members who helped deliver Reiyukai message.

Actors Ramesh Budhathoki, Rajesh Hamal, Bipana Thapa, Melina Manandhar, singer Kunti Moktan, Dhiraj Rai and many others were felicitated during the programme.

Puran Raj Bajracharya, general-secretary of the NNRB, presented the annual financial report of the year 2003.

Naresh Man Pradhan, vice-responsible Shibucho and president of NNRB, chaired the programme.
