Legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar passes away

India's legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who was also known as the 'Nightingale of India' has passed away at the age of 92.
Mangeshkar had contracted Covid-19 in early January following which she was admitted to Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai.
She breathed her last on Sunday in the hospital where she was being treated in the ICU, and was put on ventilator, after suffering from Covid-19 complications.
In her career spanning decades, she had sung over 30,000 songs in almost three dozen languages.
Mangeshkar was awarded with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour in India, in the year 2001.
Condolences are pouring in on social media following reports of Mangeshkar's passing away wherein general public, politicians and people from the entertainment industry, as well as international fans of the legend are paying tributes to her life.
Her mortal remains will be taken to Shivaji Park for cremation later today.
Meanwhile, the Government of India in a gesture of respect has announced two-days of national mourning on her demise.
