‘MCC should be passed as soon as possible’

GAIGHAT, FEBRUARY 5

Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka today said the Millennium Challenge Corporation should be passed from the Parliament by forging political consensus at the earliest.

Noting that unnecessary rumours were being spread regarding the MCC, Minister Khadka said that efforts were under way to forge consensus to pass the MCC at the earliest.

Inaugurating the newly-built administrative building of Chaudhandigadhi Municipality in the minister's home district Udayayur, Minister Khadka recalled that the Maoist-led government backed by the Nepali Congress had signed the MCC to be passed from the Parliament. He charged that some forces were spreading rumours against the MCC.

Khadka slammed the political parties' double standard. 'When some parties are in the government, they support the MCC. Once out of the government, they start talking against it,' Khadka noted.

Khadka said that MCC grant would be used for infrastructure development required for the hydro sector in the country.
