KATHMANDU: The Nepal National and International Players Association is organising the 16th edition of the NNIPA Sports Award on March 1 on the premises of Bajrabarahi Temple.

The NNIPA will award one each male and female player from 27 sports disciplines in this year's edition. 'As there are no national and international sports events held in the past couple of years, we have decided to include 27 sports disciplines affiliated to the Nepal Olympic Committee,' informed NNIPA President Deepak Shrestha at a press meet on Thursday.

The national associations will recommend their respective best players based on the past performances. Out of the best players from the 27 sports disciplines, the NNIPA will select one each male and female player as the best athletes of the year, talented athletes and rising players. The NNIPA will honour a senior player with Gajaraj Ideal Sports Personality Award and also felicitate a para-athlete and sports journalist. The NNIPA has formed a selection committee to pick the athletes under its Honorary President Deepak Bista. - HNS
