BAJURA, FEBRUARY 24

Police have finally arrested the mastermind behind the murder of Prabhu Giri of Kalapani, Ward 8 of Tribeni Municipality, Bajura.

According to District Police Office Chief Chaturbhuj Ojha, Bharat was picked from India by a police team from the DPO.

The murder mastermind, who hails from Kalapani itself, was made public at a press conference today. Police had succeeded in arresting him from the Indian state of Uttarakhand in coordination with Interpol and Indian police.

It was also informed at the press conference that Bharat was hiding in India for the past 16 years ever since he committed the murder here.

Sixteen years ago, Bharat and his friends had called Prabhu out of his bed in the evening and taken him along professedly to buy mouth freshener.

Before reaching the shop, they had, however, detained Prabhu, tied him onto a tree and attacked him with various domestic weapons.

After he was killed, they had dumped the body in the nearby wheat field and fled.

While other persons involved in the murder have already done their time for involvement in the crime, Bharat had managed to flee.

Prabhu was murdered on 24 January 2007.

His body was found with bruises all over and a broken head.

Police had acted on an FIR filed by the victim's brother and arrested most of those involved.

According to police, Bharat had planned to murder Prabhu after finding him in a compromising situation with his cousin.
