KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 27
As the government gears up to ratify the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact from the House of Representatives today, main opposition CPN-UML has clarified that it will continue with obstruction of House business.
Deputy leader of UML parliamentary party Subas Nembang said that the house will continue to face disruptions as the party's demands have not yet been addressed.
UML has been protesting at the House from August 2021, after Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota refused the party's request to take action against 14 of its lawmakers belonging to a faction led by Madhav Nepal, who has since formed a new party.
Ruling coalition finally reached a consensus today on endorsing the MCC pact after months on uncertainty over ratification of the agreement.
