Four parties form electoral alliance in Dhankuta

DHANKUTA, MARCH 21

Four parties have decided to form an electoral alliance to contest the local polls against the CPN-UML on May 13 in Dhankuta.

At a press meet organised in Dhankuta today, Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre, CPN-Unified Socialist and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal decided to form electoral alliance in the district. As per the agreement, the four parties will field one candidate each at all municipalities, rural municipalities and wards.

'We have decided to form electoral alliance to defeat the CPN-UML in the local polls,' said NC Dhankuta President Dinesh Rai. The parties said that they had issued directives to all local levels and wards to hold election campaign separately and jointly in line with the local need.

NCP-Unified Socialist Dhankuta Chair Arjun Rai said they had formed the alliance for economic and social development of Dhankuta.

In the last polls, CPN-UML had won the heads and deputy heads of all seven municipalities and rural municipalities, and 43 wards. Similarly, NC had won nine wards, while CPN-Maoist Centre had won five wards and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal had bagged victory in three wards.
