Candidacy registration for local level polls begins

KATHMANDU, APRIL 24

The registration of candidature for the upcoming local level elections started throughout the country today.

The Election Commission, said the registration of candidacy had started from 10:00am at the Office of the Election Officer set up in the 753 local levels. The registration of candidacies will be done from 10:00am to 5:00pm today and tomorrow, the Election Commission said.

The Office of the Election Officer will publish the final name list of candidates tomorrow evening itself.

Similarly, as per the election schedule, filing of complaints against the candidates will take place on April 26, verification and scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done and decision taken on the complaints on April 27 and 28, the names of the nominated candidates will be published on April 28.

Candidates wanting to withdraw their nomination can do so on April 29 and the final list of candidates will be published on the same day. The candidates will be allocated the election symbol on April 30.

All the works related to nominations will be done by the Office of the Election Officer concerned, the Election Commission said.
