Local level polls: 149,838 in fray for 35,221 posts

KATHMANDU, APRIL 26

A total of 149,838 candidates have filed their candidacy for various posts of local governments. Local polls slated for May 13 will elect 35,221 candidates to various posts of local governments, including mayors and deputy mayors.

According to Information Officer of the Election Commission Tulsi Bahadur Shrestha, 3,470 are in fray for the posts of mayor and 2,134 for posts of deputy mayor; 3,376 are vying for chiefs of local levels and 2,392 for posts of deputy chief.

Out of 753 local levels, six are metropolises, 11 sub-metropolises, 276 municipalities, and 460 rural municipalities.
