KATHMANDU: Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal (RJN) chairman Chitra Bahadur KC today accused the Unified CPN-Maoist of defaming the whole communist movement by attacking bandh organisers in different places of the capital. 'The communist movement of Peru and Cambodia failed due to a fascist nature like that of Nepal's Maoists and the UCPN-M will have to face the same fate,' he said, addressing an interaction at Reporter's Club Nepal. He blamed that the police personnel remained mute spectators even when the UCPN-M cadres attacked RJN cadres with sharp weapons. KC claimed that the proposed idea of federalism would divide the country. Sanjaya Kumar Sha, State Minister for Physical Planning and Works, threatened the Maoists of a repeat of the Gaur incident if the Maoists continued their anarchic activities. Around three dozen Maoist cadres were killed during a clash between cadres of the UCPN-M and the Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum two years ago. He said the three-party leaders, who were in minority in their respective parties, had formed the High-Level Political Mechanism without involving the Prime Minister, to conspire against the present coalition. 'There is no positive intention behind the formation of this mechanism and it does not support the constitution writing process,' he argued. Meanwhile, UCPN-M politburo member Hishila Yami said that the RJN should be banned like the al-Qaeda in Afaghanistan. 'It is the Newa autonomous state, so no one is allowed to go against federalism,' she said. Yami maintained that the high-level mechanism would augur well for the statute drafting and the peace processes. Earlier, Yami had refused to address the programme attended by minister Sha. She addressed the programme only after Sha was moved to another room. Nepali Congress central member Binaya Dhoj Chand said that federal states should not be carved on the basis of caste. 'Caste-based federal states of the Maoists have begun dividing people instead of integrating them,' he said. He also cautioned the leaders not to use the high-level mechanism to dismantle the present coalition. Chand, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the formation of the mechanism without discussion in the NC's central committee meeting. Similalrly, CPN-UML leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha said that the mechanism was a conspiracy to pull down the coalition. The CPN-UML central committee would seek clarification from Chairman Jhalanath Khanal in this regard as he participated in the mechanism without holding discussions in the party, he added.
