KATHMANDU, MAY 18

The Um Hong Gil Human Foundation announced on Tuesday that it would construct a school building in a rural Dailekh village.

The ground breaking event for the new building of Nepal Rastriya Secondary School in Dullu was attended by Hwangbo Seonghee, South Korean Parliament Member, UHGHF founder Um Hong Gil, and other dignitaries. The foundation will be constructing its 18th school building in mid-western Nepal.

Among those present at the ground breaking event were Dullu Municipality mayor Ghanashyam Bhandari and Chung Chungbok, Chairman of the Korean Seyong Group. The school has roughly 700 students in 12 grades. The project is estimated to be completed by 2024.

Captain Um Hong Gill, popularly known as 'Tank of the Himlayas,' was a world-renowned mountaineer and philanthropist who conquered 16 of the world's highest mountains above 8,000 metres.

UHGHF was founded in Korea in 2008 as a non-profit, non-religious, non-political, non-governmental charitable organisation. The Foundation's principal objective is educational development, particularly in rural Nepal. It has also engaged in the fields of health and heritage preservation.
