RAJBIRAJ, JUNE 9

Motorbike theft has increased in Rajbiraj recently.

With almost daily cases of such thefts, the public and service-seekers who come to Rajbiraj for work are worried.

Ward No 7 Chair of Rajbiraj Municipality Subhash Chandra Yadav had his bike stolen from the ward office at about 4:00pm this afternoon.

'I was inside my office and my bike was parked outside.

The bike wasn't there when I came out after finishing my work,' Yadav said.

'I've been searching for the lost bike and haven't found it thus far,' he added.

From the same place, Urban Health Clinic Rajbiraj incharge Santosh Das' bike was also stolen a few days ago. Similarly, there were reports of motorbikes missing from the Land Mapping Office, Land Revenue Office, Forest Office, and the court.

Cases of theft of helmets has also gone up of late.

'I had entered the forest office parking my bike in front of the office and leaving my helmet there. When I came out, there was no helmet,' said Civil Network Saptari Chairperson Sukharam Yadav. Locals attribute the increasing cases of theft of motorbikes to lack of traffic police on the road. Besides, lack of closed-circuit cameras on the road is also blamed for increasing incidents of vehicle theft.

On his part, Rajbiraj Mayor Bhimraj Yadav said work related to installation of CCTV cameras at major intersections and busy areas would start soon.
