Nepal lose to Kuwait

KATHMANDU: Nepal national football team faced a 4-1 defeat at the hands of hosts Kuwait in the Group A match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City on Saturday.

Fahad Alrishidi opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Yousef Nasser scored twice in the 48th and 70th minutes to make it 3-0 for the home team. Mubarak Al Faneni put Kuwait 4-0 ahead with a goal in the 73rd minute.

Darshan Gurung scored the consolation goal for Nepal in the fourth minute of the injury time. Nepal head coach Abdullah Almutairi was taken to hospital after he fainted at the technical area moments after Kuwait scored the second goal. Nepal, who lost 2-0 against Jordan in the opening match, will take on Indonesia in the last match on Wednesday.
