The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a charge-sheet at the Special Court against six persons for embezzling state funds worth around Rs 3.65 million on the pretext of road expansion in Jugal Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk.
Those sued by the anti-graft body are former chief administrative officer of the municipality Dhakaram Aryal, engineer Suresh Paudel, assistant sub-engineer Rupak Ghimire, accountant Satendra Yadav, and user committee Chairperson Devendra Yadav and Treasurer Anusha Lama. According to the CIAA, these employees of the rural municipality had embezzled the budget in collusion with the user committee's office-bearers.
'The estimated cost for the expansion of the Balefi-Tembathan road was approved by the RM to carry out construction work by engaging the local labour force. An agreement was also concluded accordingly. However, the CAO and other employees of the RM colluded with the user committee.'
