The Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal's federal council chairperson Baburam Bhattarai and eight other central office-bearers have been relieved from their posts effective from today.

The ongoing two-day meeting of the JSP-N's central committee in Birgunj decided to relieve Bhattarai and eight others from all roles and responsibilities for carrying out activities against party's statute and interest.

Addressing the press conference organised by the JSP-N in Birgunj today, Chairperson Upendra Yadav shared that Bhattarai, Mahendra Ray Yadav, Ganga Narayan Shrestha, Prashant Singh, Ramesh Yadav, Hisila Yami, Bhagat Bahadur Shah were relieved from all responsibilities of the party. Senior member of the party Ashok Rai was unanimously picked chairperson of the Federal Council of JSP-N.

Yadav shared that his party decided to contest the upcoming parliamentarian and province assembly election forging an electoral alliance with the current five coalition parties.

The meeting also decided to reform the central committee of the party and consider amendment to the party statute.

Similarly, Chair Yadav said that the door was always open for the members relieved from their posts if they realised their mistakes and returned to the party.

New chairperson of the federal council Rai informed that the central committee took political, policy and organisational decisions to prevent any harm to the party's declared goals and objectives.
