1,807 electronic vehicles imported in fiscal 2021-22

KATHMANDU, JULY 27

A total of 1,807 electric vehicles were imported in the country in the fiscal 2021-22.

According to statistics unveiled by the Department of Customs, among the imported EVs in the last fiscal year, majority of them were from China - 823 followed by 696 from India. Likewise, 184 EVs were imported from South Korea.

Similarly, 78 EVs were imported from Japan, 23 from the UK, one from France and remaining from other countries.

The capacity of most of the EVs imported in the country were 100 kilowatt and 150-200 kilowatt. In the budget of the last fiscal, the government had announced concession in excise duty for EVs following which large number of EVs made their way to Nepal compared to the previous fiscal.
