Five of family buried alive in landslide

MYAGDI, AUGUST 2
Five persons of a family were killed and two were injured when a landslide struck Ruma of Malika Rural Municipality, Myagdi, this morning and swept away three houses.
The deceased have been identified as Gham Bahadur BK, 36, his wife Ram Maya, 34, sons Nabin and Rajan, and daughter Ashmi, 7.
Gothe BK, 65, and his wife Gori BK, were injured in the incident. Myagdi Deputy Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati said police were informed about the incident at around 7:00am. A team led by an inspector was mobilised to the incident site, which is four to five hours' walk from the district headquarters.
The landslide also buried a number of cowsheds and killed livestock.
The landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has also obstructed the Narayangadh-Mugling stretch of the Prithivi Highway. Work to clear the landside debris along the Narayangadh-Mugling road at Kerabari and Satra Kilo in Bharatpur metropolis is under way.
