JANAKPURDHAM, AUGUST 3

Madhes Province has urged the federal government to promptly go with the police adjustment process.

Province Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Bharat Prasad Saha made this call at a press meet at his office this morning. The province government has demanded adjustment of police force within a week.

'This is not the first time we have requested the federal government to carry out the police adjustment process, but it seems that the centre is not serious about the mater. We will be forced to launch a protest against the delay if it is not ensured within a week,' he said during the press meet.

The minister said they would be sending a memorandum to the federal government through the province chief on August 7 to exert pressure on the centre. He warned that they would go for phase-wise protest programme if they were not heard within the given deadline.

According to the minister, a meeting of home ministers from all seven provinces held in Janakpur some weeks ago and a separate delegation from Madhes Province led by the chief minister urged the federal government to complete the police adjustment process. He accused the federal government of curtailing the rights given to the province government by the constitution.
