Biratnagar mulls forming own planning commission

Biratnagar Metropolitan City has come up with a plan to establish a separate planning commission for the holistic development of the city.
For this, the metropolis organised a meeting of experts and related personalities and sought suggestions on a temporary, mid-term and long term plan.
The attending experts suggested an increment of the city's income by bringing all under the tax system.
The metropolis will work for development of the entire city, said the metropolis mayor Nagesh Koirala. 'The metropolis has come up with a plan to develop the city by making a development model. We are at work for this,' he said.
In the preliminary phase, suggestions are being collected to make a periodic plan for development project, he said. The metropolis will ease delivery of service through maximum use of technology, said the metropolis Deputy Mayor Shilpa Niraula Karki. In the first phase, intellectuals and representatives from various social organisations took part in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Prof PK Jha, economist Bhesh Prasad Dhamala, senior advocates Bharat Thapa and Binaya Raj Pandey, chief of Mahendra Morang Campus Prof Baburam Timsina, intellectual Dinesh Shrestha, Chair of Elite Club Bishwonath Rijal and General Secretary Yagya Sharma, Chair of the Birateshwor old age home Jagat Prasad Ajyal, Chair of Birat Sahitya Sangam Madhu Pokharel, littérateur Ram Babu Dahal, Chairperson of ABC Nepal Bishnu Sharma, Chairperson of Public Forum Uttam Dhungel and youth activist Basanta Adhikari, among others.
