KATHMANDU, AUGUST 20
A renowned climber from Sankhuwasabha has arrived home from Pakistan this morning after creating a world record in mountain climbing history.
Sanu Sherpa, 48, was received by hundreds of people at the Tribhuvan International Airport in presence of high-level government officials, members from mountaineering community and well wishers.
On June 21, Sherpa successfully scaled Gasherbrum II, becoming the only climber in the world to make double ascent of all 14 peaks above 8,000m.
Pasang Sherpa, Chairman at Pioneer Adventures, said that a chariot procession has been organised to offer hero's welcome to the legendary climber.
'Sanu is the only climber in the world to complete all peaks twice,' NMA President Nima Nuru Sherpa said.
According to him, his record seems to be 'unbeatable'.
Sherpa had made the sixth summit of 8000m peaks in 2022.
