KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 8
The story chronicling the toughest Everest bid by the legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa has been shared during a documentary film festival in the United States, a statement said.
Binod Adhikari, director of the Himalayan documentary 'Everestman' shared his experiences when he chronicled the climbing bid of Kami Rita Sherpa in the top of the world. 'Because of this work, I felt fortunate to participate as a panelist in the 13th annual Chagrin Documentary Film Festival being held in Ohio, USA from October 5th to 9th, 2022, and to introduce Nepal, Himal and climbers like Kami Rita Sherpa to the world,' Adhikari said in a statement.
Despite the unfavorable weather of 2019, insufficient footage related to documentary production, lack of records of the initial days of the climb, financial, technical and other problems, the work of turning the story of the living legend Kami Rita Sharpa into a scene was completed and today it is traveling around the world, according to Adhikari. 'The journey of such heroes around the world continues.'
'After seeing the subject, I crafted the story and turned it into a scene. There are many kinds of issues in the society, but I think of telling the stories of the real issues of our society that are being experienced by the person of our society,' Adhikari shared.
The themes that he centralised his stories and transformed into visuals were often related to a particular gender, caste, region, he added.
'During this time, I discover new places and make videos to explore those places. Such actions give me great joy and happiness. In this context, in 2011, a commercial advertisement I made on the summit of Mount Everest for Nepal Bank Limited set a world record.'
Due to the experience and understanding of this period, the Sherpas who made the climb of Mount Everest glorious, the subject of those who are not told in the story as a main character but who keep adding bricks to the dignity of Mount Everest, inspired him to create Everestmen, according to Adhikari.
'It is the story of the climbing life of Kamrita Sherpa, who has the extraordinary ability to climb mountains higher than 8,000 meters like Everest. Who is still active in mountain climbing. Everestman is a true story of a workman who earned world fame while continuing his work.'
