EC to take a month to print all ballot papers

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15
The Election Commission today said it had completed printing of 40,605,000 proportional representation ballot papers for November 20 parliamentary and provincial elections.
Out of 40,605,000 PR ballot papers, the poll panel has printed thus far, 20,421,000 are for the HoR elections and 20,184,000 are for provincial elections. The EC has also printed 1.7 million ballot papers for the first-past-thepost elections.
These PR ballot papers are for both the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections.
According to a press release issued by the EC, the poll panel has sent these PR ballot papers to 18 districts: Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Udayapur, Saptari, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Sankhuwasabha, Terhathum, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Morang and Sunsari.
Assistant Spokesperson for the EC Surya Prasad Aryal said that the EC would print up to 12 per cent more of the total voters - 17,988,570 for the provincial and parliamentary elections.
According to Aryal, the EC has started printing FPTP ballot papers and will com-lete printing all ballot paers in the next four weeks.
Printing of ballot papers is oing on in accordance with ur plan and we will comlete the process on time,' e added. He said the EC would print more ballot papers than the FPTP ballot papers as government employees, security personnel, and prisoners would also be voting under the PR election system.
