KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 15

The Election Commission has issued show cause notice to six people, including CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal for allegedly violating the election code of conduct.

According to EC Assistant Spokesperson Kamal Bhattarai, the other people whom the EC asked to show cause include Mayor of Pachrauta Municipality Jalandhar Singh Jaiswar, Official of Trade and Export Promotion Centre Gokul Wasti, Janamat Party Chair CK Raut, Hamro Nepal Party Chair Ananata Raj Ghimire, and HoR candidate from Nuwakot-1 Badri Mainali.

Similarly, the EC issued show cause notices to Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Urban Development, Nepal Academy, Ministry of Finance, Securities Board, Insurance Board, and the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Minister, Gandaki. Assistant Spokesperson for the EC Surya Prasad Aryal said the poll panel issued show cause notice to CPN-MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal for being accompanied by a music band and more than 25 people on the day he filed his candidacy from Gorkha Constituency-2.

Aryal said the election code of conduct bars candidates from having more than 25 people in their election campaign other than for mass meetings.
