Nepali Congress Rautahat Constituency-2 candidate Phirdos Alam said he was contesting the polls to fulfil his father's dream.

Phirdos is the elder son of NC leader Mohammad Aftab Alam, who is now in prison.

'My father has been put behind bars in a fake case with fabricated evidence. I am contesting to fulfil my father's unfulfilled wish,' said the NC candidate, who blamed CPN-UML for his father's plight.

'As my father was unfairly framed in a fake case by the opposition party, I had to leave my job and decided to contest with a view to completing the incomplete work of my father,' said Phirdos, who was an inspector in Nepal Police before he resigned to contest in the polls.

'There was not evidence implicating my father. We will know the people's verdict through their votes, which will be soon be out after the November 20 elections,' he said.

Alam said he was committed to doing everything to improve the physical infrastructure, irrigation, health and education, should he be elected. He also said the country would achieve prosperity only if Nepali Congress won.
