SC asks tough questions

By Himalayan News Service

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 7

The Supreme Court administration today wrote an angry letter to Parliament Secretariat's Secretary General Bharat Raj Gautam seeking answers to a few questions, implying that the apex court was not satisfied with Gautam's decision to give clean chit to Rana.

The SC wrote the letter after a full court meeting. The SC questions include:

• Whether or not action(s) on the report submitted by the Impeachment Recommendation Committee is continuing?

• Whether or not the report submitted by the Impeachment Recommendation Committee will be presented in the new HoR?

• Whether the impeachment motion was rendered void from the date of parliamentary elections or from the date when the elections were over or from the date suspended CJ Rana wrote a letter to the Parliament Secretariat?

• On what constitutional and legal grounds did Gautam conclude that the impeachment motion had become void whereas the new Parliament had not convened its meeting yet?
