Kathmandu, May 6:

Following a hearing, the apex court today ordered the government to release lawmakers of the Upper House of parliament, Bir Bahadur Singh, Lal Bahadur Bishowkarma, and former lawmaker Dev Shankar Poudel from preventive detention.

They were taken under preventive detention immediately after the February royal 1 move.

A bench of justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi ordered the Home Ministry, Police Headquarters, and the Kathmandu District Police Office to produce former Law Minister Subash Chandra Nembang before the SC on Tuesday.

“Produce Nembang before the bench because he is a lawyer and he has the right to plead before the court on his case.”

Meanwhile, the government today served a three-month preventive detention notice on former minister, Bimalendra Nidhi, the NC (D) said. The police served a three-month-long preventive detention notice on student leader Gagan Thapa.
