Royals, Super Kings record victories

Kathmandu, December 29

Janakpur Royals and Biratnagar Super Kings recorded victories in the NepalT20 Cricket League here at the TU Stadium today.

The Royals defeated Far West United by eight wickets for the third win. Batting first, the United posted 169-6 in their allotted 20 overs before the Royals raced to 171-2 with 10 balls to spare.

Karan KC top scored for the United with a fiery unbeaten knock of 17-ball 46 that included three fours and four sixes, while Bhim Sharki hit a four and two sixes in his 30-ball 36. Opener Dev Khanal was the next best scoring 22 runs. Lalit Rajbanshi took two wickets for the Royals.

In reply, Chadwick Walton and player-of-the-match Sundeep Jora added 151 runs for the unbroken third wicket to take the Royal home. Jora hit three fours and five sixes in his 54-ball 77, while Walton scored 69 off 40 balls with the help of two fours and five sixes.

Karan KC struck twice in the third over sending openers Pawan Sarraf (12) and Trevon Griffith (six) in the space of one run to reduce the Royals to 20-2 but the United bowlers faced brutal hammering from Walton and Jora thereafter. In another match, Biratnagar Super Kings beat Pokhara Avengers by eight wickets to hand them their fifth straight defeat. The Avengers posted 135-6 in 20 overs before the Super Kings reached 138-2 with eight balls remaining.

Ameer Hamza top scored for the Avengers with 25-ball 37 hitting a four and three sixes, while Sumit Maharjan (26) and skipper Upul Tharanga (25) were the notable contributors with the bat. Andre McCarthy was the pick of the Super Kings bowlers taking 3-22 from four overs.

Nepal national team skipper Rohit Paudel and Gauranshu Sharma (33) added 78 runs for the second wicket after opener Arjun Saud fell in the first ball of the innings. Paudel then combined with Hussain Talat to share a 50-run partnership for the unbroken third wicket to take the team home. Player-ofthe-match Paudel remained unbeaten on 71 off 57 balls that included six fours and three sixes, while Talat hit three fours in his 23-ball 28 not out.
