Sankata rally to oust Army

Sankata Club came from behind to beat Tribhuvan Army Football Club 3-1 and advanced to the semi-finals of the 22nd Aaha-Rara Gold Cup here at the Pokhara Stadium today.
Nawayug Shrestha put the TAFC ahead before Oloumou Messouke, Stephen Binong and Suraj Jeu Thakuri scored for former champions Sankata, who will now face defending champions Nepal APF Football Club for a place in the final on Wednesday. Shrestha scored from the spot as TAFC took an early lead in 14th minute. Messouke levelled the scores in the 36th minute following a pass from his skipper Sunil Bal, who dodged as many as two defenders before releasing the ball.
Sankata took the lead in the 74th minute when Thakuri scored in rebound. Binong struck against the post on a pass from Sunil Bal and Thakuri buried the ball into the goal. Binong then sealed the victory with a goal in the injury time.
On Tuesday, Manang Marshyangdi Club will take on Bhutanese Youth FC of United States in the last quarter-final match. Top two teams will earn Rs 1.2 million and Rs 600,000 respectively.
