KATHMANDU, JANUARY 3

The Department of Passports on Tuesday issued a notice saying that it will not be able to print or distribute passports for an indefinite period owing to technical issues.

The department, where people stood in queue from wee hours every day, has not been able to distribute passports for the past two days. 'Printing and distribution has not been done since January 1 due to a glitch in the department's system,' the DoP's notice reads.

It further said, 'The department has been incessantly working to solve the problem. All the applicants are requested to have patience and come to the department only after receiving SMS from the department.'
