KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20
Flights have been generally affected due to the adverse weather, said Teknath Sitaula, the Spokesperson for Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). He said domestic and international flights both have been hampered due to low visibility owing to bad weather.
The TIA said the takeoff and landing of flights has started to become easier as the weather is becoming gradually clear now. A Nepal Airlines plane could not land this morning today due to low visibility and it had to be diverted to Kolkata of India, TIA Office said.
Similarly, a Shree Airlines airplane which flew from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu towards the domestic sector landed at Bhadrapur airport due to low visibility in Kathmandu. Likewise, a Vistara Air plane from Mumbai, India had to 'hold' for long time before landing.
The flights are taking place normally as the atmospheric condition has improved now.
The Westerly low-pressure system has its influence in the country at present, Meteorological Forecasting Division, Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated.
The weather is partly to generally fair in the Sudurpaschim Province, Karnali Province and the hilly region of Gandaki Province with chances of light rain at one or two places of Sudurpaschim Province and Karnali Province.
