Women's National Volleyball from Saturday

Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation is organising the sixth edition of the Women's National Volleyball Tournament at the National Sports Council covered hall from Saturday.

A total of six teams - defending champions Nepal APF Club, New Diamond Youth Sports Club, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Gandaki Province and Everest Volleyball Club - will take part in the tournament, informed the organisers at a press meet today. The teams will be divided into two pools and they will play under league-cum-knockout format.

The winners of the eight-day tournament will receive Rs 300,000, while the runners-up and third place teams will earn Rs 150,000 and Rs 75,000 respectively, in-formed Foundation President Ranjan Khadka. The best player of the tournament will get Rs 50,000, while the best server, defender, setter, libero, spiker and coach will receive Rs 15,000 each. The emerging player will receive Rs 15,000, while player of the match will get Rs 10,000.

Likewise, the Foundation will felicitate a national team member with Special Award along with Rs 50,000.

Meanwhile, the Foundation signed the sponsorship agreement with KNP Nerolac Paints. Foundation's Patron Gamali Khadka and KNP Nerolac's Country Head Manoj Mishra exchanged the memorandum of understanding.

Mishra said the company had been supporting the tournament under its corporate social responsibility and was ready to join hands with the Foundation in future as well.

Nepal Volleyball Association President Jitendra Bahadur Chand thanked the Foundation for contributing towards the professionalism of the sport.
