Kathmandu, March 23
The agitating parties have decided to intensify their protest programme in the coming days against the naming of Koshi Province. They have been demanding a name that denotes identity.
The re-naming joint campaign committee of Province 1 has announced new protest programmes.
According to a statement, a march campaign has been called for the next two weeks. Protest programmes were held today in Panchthar and tomorrow they will be held in Taplejung. Likewise, the campaign will be held in Jhapa on March 27 and then in Sunsari later.
Regional meetings have been held in all 14 districts of the province. It is said that a meeting will be held along with a motorcycle rally in Kathmandu.
A programme has also been arranged to coordinate and discuss with political parties, indigenous peoples and communities, and the people of Province 1.
It is said the protesters will send request letters or statements to the government agencies of Province 1, businessmen (hotels, restaurants, schools, campuses, transport entrepreneurs), and non-governmental organisations not to write Koshi Province on letter pads and boards and to delete it if it is already written.
Campaigners have stated that they will continue to launch previously announced programmes.
