Gold price unchanged, grey metal shines

Gold price remained unchanged, while that of silver went up in the trading week between March 26 and 31. In the domestic market, gold price remained the same, while silver price increased by Rs 30 a tola during the review week.
According to the rate list of Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FeNeGoSiDA), gold price was fixed at Rs 109,200 per tola when the market opened for trading on Sunday before decreasing by Rs 200 a tola on Monday. The price of the precious yellow metal fell by Rs 1,000 per tola onhines Tuesday before gaining Rs 500 a tola to Rs 108,500 per tola on Wednesday. Its price went down by Rs 300 a tola on Thursday before rising again by Rs 1,000 per tola to be traded at Rs 109,200 a tola on Friday, the last trading day of the week.
Meanwhile, silver was traded at Rs 1,370 per tola on Sunday and its price fell by Rs 10 a tola on Monday. The price of grey metal decreased by five rupees per tola on Tuesday before increasing by five rupees a tola on Wednesday. On Thursday, silver prices increased by Rs 10 per tola before increasing again by Rs 25 a tola on Friday to settle at Rs 1,400 per tola for the week, as per the FeNeGoSiDA.According to international news agencies, gold prices were on track for a second straight quarterly rise on Friday, as growing bets that the US Federal Reserve will slow the pace of interest rate hikes drew investors to the metal. The dollar index, while down for the quarter, firmed on Friday, weighing on demand for the greenback-priced gold.
Gold consumption in top hub China slowed this week as a steady rise in domestic prices started to bite, forcing dealers to offer discounts for the first time in months.
