Candidacies filed for 3 parliamentary seats

Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal Chair Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane filed their nomination papers for the by-elections scheduled for April 23. Yadav and Lamichhane filed their nomination papers from Bara-2 and Chitwan-2 respectively.
Economist Swarnim Wagle who joined the Lamichhane-led RSP recently, filed his candidacy from Tanahun-1 constituency.
According to Election Commission Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel, 12 candidates representing different political parties and 12 independent candidates filed their nomination papers from Chitwan-2.
Similarly, nine candidates from different political parties filed their nomination papers from Tanahun-1.
Twelve candidates from different parties and 24 independent candidates filed their nomination papers from Bara-2.
Candidates who filed nomination papers from Tanahun-1 include Sarbendra Khanal of CPN-UML, Swarnim Wagle of RSP, Ram Prasad Prajapati of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Purna Bahadur Rana of Rastriya Janamukti Party, Prem Bahadur Thapa of Mangol National Organisation, Ganesh Shrestha of Communist Party of Nepal Socialist, Shobha Gurung of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Govinda Bhattarai of Nepali Congress, and Bhim Bahadur Sunar of Nagarik Unmukti Party.
Candidates from Bara-2 include Arun Kumar Gyawali of Aam Janata Party, Upendra Yadav of JSP-N, Kamarullah Ansari of NUP, Chandra Prakash Subedi of Hamro Nepal party, Nejarul Ansari of Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party, Purushottam Paudel of CPN-UML, Pramod Ram Chamar of Mangol National Organisation, Manif Miya Ansari of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Mukti Prasad Yadav of NWPP, Ramesh Prasad Kharel of RSP, Shivachandra Kushwaha of Janamat Party, and Sona Lal Prasad Sha Teli of RPP.
Similarly Asarfi Raut Ahir, Uma Kumari Kushwaha, Umesh Prasad Yadav, Kusheshwar Sah Baniya, Girja Kumari, Chhote Lal Mahato Koiri, Jitendra Prasad Yadav, Jaisi Raut, Dinesh Prasad Yadav, Durga Prasad Koiri, Dharmabir Prasad Yadav, Dhuplal Hajra, Baburam Prasad, Birendra Prasad Yadav, Muna Mansuri, Radhika Neupane Sah Kalwar, Rambalak Mahara Chamar, Rita Devi, Binod Kumar Karna, Birendra Pandit, Shambhu Prasad Sah Teli, Sigari Devi, Suraj Sah Teli and Surendra Kumar Singh have filed their nomination papers as independent candidates, according to Bara Election Office.
Those candidates who filed nomination from Chitwan-2 include RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane, Chhatra Kumar Pakhrin of Rastriya Mukti Aandolan Nepal, Janakraj Sharma of Rastriya Janamorcha, Jeevlal Puri of RPP, Gyanendra Praja of NWPP, Tek Bahadur Tamang of Mangol National Organsiation, Prem Bahadur Khadka of Jay Janmabhumi Party Nepal, Mahanand Jaishi of Rastriya Janamukti Party, Yoglal Shrestha of Rastriya Nagarik Party, Rajesh Adhikari of NUP, Ram Prasad Neupane of CPN-UML and Jeet Narayan Shreshta of NC.
Among the independent candidates are Ambika Bhatta, Chakrapani Neupane, Tara Prasad Paudel, Bhaskar Chandra Neupane, Bhojraj Bagale, Ram Krishna Ojha, Laxmi Maya Koirala Budhathoki, Bikram Shrestha, Santosh Thapa, Sudarshan Kandel, Suman Shrestha and Suvas Pariyar. Filing of nomination papers by Janamat Party and Aam Janata Party in Bara-2 reflects division among partners of the 10-party ruling alliance. Yadav who was defeated by Janamat Party Chair CK Raut in Saptari-2 in the November elections is trying his luck in the by-election to be held in Bara-2 on April 23.
