Kathmandu, April 6
The Free Student Union elections, which had been put off due to conflict among the student groups, will now be hold election on April 13.
The arrangement was made following a meeting today among all Student Union Groups.
On March 19, majority of campuses affiliated to Tribhuvan University conducted their elections. Earlier, some cam-puses were unable to hold elections due to disagreement among students regarding illegal admission of unauthorised students in the colleges.
The student unions have decided to refrain from any action that would result in the cancellation or dissolution of elections slated for April 13.
Additionally, they have agreed that the administration offices will be opened.
In the statement published this morning, it is said, 'The United Students' Union group is committed to holding elections in affiliated and related campuses across the country and will not be taking any action to nullify the election. If there is a lockout from any side leading to disruption of the election with the help of the administration, the United Students' Union Group will take action.'
As per the statement, the entire Students' Union Group has asked the university's central monitoring committee to investigate and keep an eye on election-related issues that have been embroiled in controversy after voting in various campuses was halted due to disputes in students' admission process.
The Student's Union Group has called for a fair election and strongly denounced the reckless and illegal act of putting universities and campuses under a particular party's control and using the elections to arbitrarily advance party goals without holding fair and decent elections.
