KATHMANDU, MAY 07
Two climbers successfully scaled a technical peak in the Khumbu region, expedition organizer has said.
Prakash Sherpa and Andreas Tronsberg from Germany stood atop Kyajo Ri (6,186m) in an alpine style on April 29, according to the Alpinist Climber Expeditions Pvt. Ltd.
IFMGA guide Sherpa said that they reached the summit of Kyajo Ri at around 6:57am. 'It's a technical peak located between Thame and Gokyo valleys and we have done it in an alpine style,' the International Mountain Guide said.
'Despite the difficult conditions, Alpinist Climber Expeditions is the only team that has reached the summit of Kyajo Ri this season,' Sherpa said, adding that they scaled Island Peak for acclimatization before they headed for a summit push on Kyajo Ri.
Kyajo Ri is considered as a technical climbing peak in the Everest region. Kyajo Ri has been open for climbing since 2002.
'The climb provides a unique 6000m greater experience because it is one of the least explored peaks in comparison to surrounding peaks,' Sherpa who owns the Alpinist Climber Expeditions said.
According to Sherpa, he always wants to promote alpinism in the mountaineering world. 'We have never used fixed ropes to scale peaks below 7,000m as we care mountain environment the most,' Sherpa said, while he prepares to leave for Khumbu to attempt to scale Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest this season.
