Jawalakhel reclaim top position

KATHMANDU, MAY 9

Amrit Shrestha scored an own goal as Jawalakhel Youth Club defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club 1-0 to reclaim the lead in the Martyrs Memorial A Division League here at the Dasharath Stadium today.

HSC goalkeeper Kishor Giri punched the ball on a corner from Abdulaziz Nishonbaev but the ball entered the goal taking a deflection to Shrestha in the 23rd minute. And the goal was enough for JYC to end their four-match winless streak and move to the top of the table with 27 points from 16 matches. JYC are tied with Church Boys United, who have played one match fewer and will face two-time defending champions Machhindra FC (24) on Wednesday.

In the day's other matches, Three Star Club and New Road Team played a goalless draw at the Dasharath Stadium, while Sankata Club defeated Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club 2-0 riding on a brace from Youssef Atriss at the Chyasal Stadium.

With their seventh draw in 16 matches, Three Star remained at the third position with 25 points, while NRT are 12th on 18 points. Satdobato missed a chance to move up to third after their fifth defeat and they are remained at the fifth place with 23 points, while Sankata moved up to ninth with 20 points, tied with seventh-placed Manang Marshyangdi Club and eighth-placed Himalayan Sherpa Club.

Tribhuvan Army Club are at the sixth position with 21 points, while Friends Club and Nepal APF Football Club are tied on 19. FC Khumaltar (17) and Nepal Police Club (16) are in the relegation zone.
