Property worth millions gutted

Fire incidents have increased due to excessive heat and hot wind in Siraha of late. Property worth millions have turned into ashes.

More than Rs 5 million was gutted after fire spread from the houses and shops at Shakhuwankarkatti and Sukhipur rural municipalities and Golbazaar Municipality three days ago. Property worth Rs 800,000 was destroyed after a fire spread from a house belonging to Saburi Yadav at Kalyanpur of Shakhuwankarkatti Rural Municipality this morning. Property, utensils, clothes, cash, gold jewellery, among other valuable items, were destroyed after the fire engulfed the houses belonging to Bisun Yadav, Chandar Yadav and Ram Aashis Yadav at the rural municipality.

A fire engine of Lahan Municipality, police and locals had brought the fire under control after an hour.

Similarly, property worth Rs 3 million was destroyed after fire spread from a house and grocery shop belonging to Ram Udgar Yadav due to electric short-circuit in Sukhipur Municipality, Siraha, today. Police said the incident happened while Ram Janam Yadav was pumping water through a machine. Police said clothes, utensils, goods in the grocery shop, gold jewellery, cash, among other valuables, turned into ashes in the blaze.

A fire engine of Golbazaar Municipality, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and locals had brought the fire under control.

Likewise, property worth Rs 1.5 million was destroyed after a fire spread from a tea shop at the main square of Golbazaar Municipality in Siraha yesterday morning. The incident happened due to leakage of gas cylinder, said police.

Police said the tea shop belonging to Jogi Sah was destroyed in the blaze. Utensils, clothes, cash, among others, were turned into ashes in the blaze, said police. Fire engine from Golbazaar Municipality, police, and locals had brought the fire under control after two hours.
