550 mountaineers climb Mt Dhaulagiri in 63 years

KATHMANDU, MAY 16

As many as 550 climbers have successfully ascended the Mt Dhaulagiri so far.

Located at Dhaulagiri rural municipality-4 of Myagdi district at an altitude of 8,167 meters, many climbers arrive to climb the Mt Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world, every year.

It was first climbed on May 13, 1960 by Swiss, Austrian and Nepali mountaineers.

According to the Department of Tourism, 550 people including Nepalis and foreigners have successfully climbed the Mt Dhaulagiri from 1960-2020.

A total of 37 mountaineers - 25 male and 12 female have taken permit to climb Mt Dhaulagiri in this season.
