SC orders govt not to distribute money to disqualified Maoist combatants

KATHMANDU, MAY 16

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interlocutory order to the government, asking it to not provide two lakhs rupees to each disqualified Maoist combatant.

A single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi issued the order to this regard on Tuesday.

Advocates including Gyanendra Aran had filed a writ petition at SC against government's decision to provide two lakhs to each disqualified Maoist combatant.

The SC has also sought a written response from the government and ordered for discussion with both sides.
