Sherpa hold United; Army triumph

Himalayan Sherpa Club held leaders Church Boys United to a 1-1 draw, while Tribhuvan Army Football Club defeated relegation-threatened Friends Club 3-0 in the Martyrs Memorial A Division League here today.
Anjan Bista scored for the United before Abayomi Oluwaseun Fakunle levelled the scores for Sherpa at the Chyasal Stadium. United had a chance to open up five-point lead at the top of the table but the newcomers remained three points ahead after 20 matches. Bista gave United an early lead in the 12th minute, while Fakunle scored the equalizer in the 35th minute. After their seventh stalemate, United remained at the top with 37 points, while two-time defending champions Machhindra FC are second on 34. Jawalakhel Youth Club are third on 33, while Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club are at the fourth place with 29 points.
Sherpa are at the seventh place behind Three Star Club after being tied on 26 points.
At the ANFA Complex grounds, Jagajeet Shrestha, Nawayug Shrestha and Sudil Rai scored for Army. Jagajeet put TAFC ahead in the 26th minute, while Nawayug doubled the tally from the spot in the 76th minute.
Sunil Rai then completed the scoring in the first minute of the injury time.
With their seventh victory in the league, TAFC climbed up to fifth and they are behind Satdobato on inferior head-to-head results after being tied on 29 points. Friends remained at the 13th position with 21 points, while FC Khumaltar are at the bottom of the 14-team table with 18 points.
