Marek-Kathmandu Service Society has held its fifth general assembly amidst a function in Chabhil.

Marek-Kathmandu Service Society has held its fifth general assembly amidst a function in Chabhil.

Speaking on the occasion, MKSS chairman Dilli Ram Pokhrel said that the society is committed to serving the needy people. 'Social responsibility is a key mantra of our society,' he added.

MKSS secretary Tej Bahadur Poudel presented a detail report on activities conducted by the society.

MKSS treasurer Lil Bahadur Rogu furnished the society's financial report. The convention endorsed both documents.

According to Poudel, the society has established an annual scholarship program for the students studying at Dharmodaya Higher Secondary School in Marek.

The society members also collected fund to support Santoshi Tumba who is undergoing treatment at Kathmandu hospital.

The society has now 16 lifetime members. 'The society's main aim to retain cordial relations among the members who hailed from Marek of Mahalaxmi Municipality -2,' treasurer Rogu said, adding that it would also lend helping hands as per its social service initiatives, to the people in need. 'It is also for the retaining a strong unity among Marek locals,' chairman Pokhrel added.

The society is registered with the district administration office and social welfare council. The next general meeting scheduled for December this year will form new executive committee, according to Poudel. Three new members- Yam Kumar Karki, Sabin Pokhrel and Karishma Khatri Thapa - have been indicted as new executive committee members.
